West Newton
The small village of West Newton is about 8 miles north east of King's Lynn. St Peter's and St Paul's Church has a 14th century tower with a 20th century clock. There were considerable additions to the church in the 15th century, including the battlements on the tower, but in the 18th and early 19th centuries it fell into considerable disrepair. West Newton has been inhabited since, at least, Roman times. The oldest evidence of human habitation is a Roman villa, which is located about a ¾ mile from the church.
