West Acre
The small village of West Acre is about 4½ miles from Swaffham, consisting of a mainly agricultural community. Actor and writer Stephen Fry, who lives nearby, is a patron of West Acre River Studios. Here they hold events throughout the year including summer jazz evenings, plays and art workshops. West Acre Gardens have display gardens as well as plants for sale from all over the world. All Saints Church in West Acre has a tower arch and chancel arch that date from the 14th century. The rest of the church was largely re-built in 1635 by Sir Edward Barkham, who was Lord Mayor of London in 1621. The village sign, play area and war memorial are on the green to the side of the church.
